Description: The tutorial shows how to use Layer Masks and what they are useful for.
Level: G - Guide
Credits go to ~KahnInteractive, *Eden-stock, ~dreamstock, ~i-stock, ~body-stock - the roses are from someone who must be called similar to this: prettydevina-stock - but I must've gotten a typo in there and can't seem to get it right... so if anyone knows where those pretty roses were from - tell me please!

Great tutorial. I already know how to do this, but I give credit where credit is due.
It's so selfless to write these tutorials. I've done a tutorial and two walkthroughs, I know how much time and effort goes into creating something like this, designed to help others improve their skills.
I am going to check out your other tutorials. You should check out mine!

you open all of them in ps, then you drag and drop (using the move-tool - press V) them into one of the documents or into a new one, whichever you like.

I would LOVE to use this tutorial. However, it does not explain to me the part that has me stumped. You use the one liner "so get them into one psd file". Since I have only had ps for a week, and have no prior experience with this program, I have nooooooo idea how to do that. I have clicked all the options I can find to click on, I have searced the help file, I have searched google. I think I am persuing the wrong questions, because no where have I found the explanation "in order to open multiple images in the same osd file...."
open all the pictures you want to use in PS, then drag and drop (using the move-tool - press V) them into one of the documents or into a new one, whichever you like.
i hope this helped. it's the easiest way of doing this - at least as far as i know.

they're only side by side for the tutorial so you are able to see which pics i used. you need them above each other.
now in the layers pallette click on the "layer one" (you can't apply a mask to a background layer) and follow the tutorial (make mask, brush away the edge, use fill tool etc)
hope this helped

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

now in the layers pallette click on the "layer one" (you can't apply a mask to a background layer) and follow the tutorial (make mask, brush away the edge, use fill tool etc)
