Another great tutorial! I actually used the same method to create hair effects on PS, but detail about tool settings will definitely help.

hmmmm... good question, I'm working on PS7 and couldn't find it - I'd just use the Gaussian blur instead
but I'll ask edera ;)

Filters> Blur> Box Blur in photoshop 5.0 up to CS2 is that kind of blur you can manage with a factor (1 to 999).
